Thanks to Jonathan Daniel of Pittsburgh PA for the following images.
The back side of the River Ridge Mansion showing the mansion’s main entrance with the farm secretary and the Grandelis family dog Stubby. Abt. 1914. The mansion was completed November 1913.
A close-up of the main entrance to the mansion, abt. 1914.
If you compare the left image of the mansion’s right wing, believed to have been taken shortly after the mansion was completed in 1913 to a comparable image taken abt. 1915, you will notice that in the right image there has been a two story addition added to the left side of the mansion. The addition consists of a sunroom on the lower floor and addional bedrooms on the upper floor. You can also see a shade difference in the newer section’s roof line. A similar two story addition was added to the mansion’s left wing on the opposite side of the building. The additions were noted by Jonathan Daniel of Pittsburgh PA when he sent in these new “early” photographs of the mansion.
